Key Concepts:
Effective communication is vital to being a caseworker.
Learning is ongoing and takes a wide variety of shapes—college education, on-the-job training, in services, asking questions, day-to-day experiences, and many others.
While post-secondary education is required for most caseworker employment, the informal learning activities such as discussions with more experienced caseworkers and on-the-job training are frequently considered the most useful.
An excellent case manager will appropriately and effectively employ a wide-ranging skill set under often challenging circumstances and difficult time frames.
