“Cannabis and CBD in 2023”

Cannabis policies are constantly changing. Many of our patients are either interested in using cannabis or cannabinoids or are already doing so. In this seminar, Dr. Hill will review the evidence for both the risks and the benefits of cannabis and cannabinoids like CBD so that healthcare professionals can help patients make more informed choices about using these complex substances.

  2. To discuss the current state of the evidence for the therapeutic use of cannabis.

“Medical Management of Hypersexual Behaviors”

Hypersexual behaviors are not uncommon in psychiatric clinical settings. In this presentation, Dr. Stanislaus will discuss the role of hormones and neurotransmitters in sexual behaviors, the medications that have clinical utility in managing hypersexual behaviors and their pharmacological actions. LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Understand the role of sex hormones and neurotransmitters in sexual functioning.
  2. Understand the role of medications in managing hypersexual behaviors.
  3. Learn the mechanism of action of the various classes of medications in decreasing hypersexual behaviors.

“Psychedelics 102: Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy”

The presentation will cover a brief history of psychedelics in America, how we got to this point in research and clinical use, concepts of neuroplasticity and synaptogenesis, elements of psychedelic- assisted psychotherapy and how they differ from traditional psychotherapy.

  1. Know the difference between traditional and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.
  2. Know the basic categories of psychedelics currently being studied and used clinically.
  3. Know who may be appropriate for this type of therapy.
